Empowering Caregivers: Conference & Toolkit Launch Event

On February 18, 2026, Restorations Second Stage Homes hosted an event to launch The Empowered Caregivers Toolkit and celebrate the contributions of the survivors involved in the project.

The event Included:

  • A panel discussion featuring individuals with lived experience of trafficking and exploitation who were consulted through the development of this project.

  • A panel discussion featuring the project development team to discuss why and how the Empowered Caregivers Project was created.

  • The sister of a survivor involved with Restorations Second Stage Homes who sadly passed away last year. Through sharing Danielle's story, Haley highlighted both the challenges faced and the impact that compassion and meaningful support can have for those with lived experience.

  • Spoken word poetry by Stephanie Saunders, anti-human trafficking consultant, advocate, and spoken word poet.

  • A Collaboration Room where local organizations showcased their programs that support survivors. Attendees participated in a lively "Passport Activity" to learn how collaboration with local partners can care for the holistic needs of survivors.

  • Graphic recording (featured above), a real-time process of listening and visually capturing key ideas, themes, and connections using text and art during meetings or presentations.

Stay tuned for media from the event including highlight videos and full-length videos of the panel discussions.
