This is survivor-led from the ground up, and you can tell by the way the modules are laid out. It flows naturally and dives deeper into the caregiver role.
Thank you for creating a trauma-informed survivor-led tool kit that is authentic, clear and easy to stay engaged.
The toolkit has strengthened my own practice when engaging with survivors, as well as with people in my personal life.
The most valuable aspect for myself was the toolkit provided validation and emotional support that acknowledged caregiver stress, burnout, and guilt helping people feel less alone and more confident in their role.
The care and intentionality for both caregiver and survivor really came through.
The most valuable aspect was the reminder of the humanity of both caregiver and survivor; the self-compassion with perseverance.
The overall tone of the toolkit was the most important thing. It consistently reminded the caregiver to approach [care] in a way that sees the survivor as a whole person who has autonomy. It also did a wonderful job of taking into consideration caregivers’ experiences and feelings.
The toolkit has given me more awareness on what would be helpful and to keep in mind when communicating with a survivor. My best intensions may not be what they need in that moment in time.
The toolkit felt raw, honest and real - from the community, for the community.
The amplification of survivor voices made this course feel different from other trainings or resources I’ve used on this topic.
[The toolkit] does a great job at empowering caregivers but also not asking more of them than they can give. The stress on authenticity, transparency and honesty helped refocus the conversation around having healthy relationships vs. saving someone.
